Where the open database lists a mileage reading for the make, the page asks the car for it and converts kilometres to miles. Always check it matches the dashboard: mileage readings haven't been checked against a real dashboard for every make yet. If the car doesn't give it, type it in.

Type the number plate. It goes on the certificate. Later, the page will look the car up with DVSA's records to fill it in for you.

Normally the page only tries the readings for the car's make. Tick this to try every reading it has, one after another. Useful when the make isn't recognised, or to see what else the car answers. Every request only reads data; nothing is changed in the car. BYD cars are always left out because diagnostic requests have set off their alarm.
